Owens Community College in Toledo, Ohio. Founded in 1965, Owens is a comprehensive community college accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
The Owens Community College Toledo area campus was honored on January 21 by a visit from President Bush on his first stop after his State of the Union Address in which he discussed the importance of educating and training the workforce through new initiatives at community colleges. President Bush singled out Owens CC as a national leader in Higher Education.
In close proximity with Owens Community College in the Toledo area is the University of Toledo. The University of Toledo is a well-established University that is well known all across the country for its wide curriculum. The University of Toledo began in 1872 and has expanded consistently from that time to the present. In the 125 years since, the university has grown into a comprehensive institution offering more than 250 undergraduate and graduate programs to over than 20,000 students from around the world. The University is centrally located in the city of Toledo and the campus is easily accessible by the TARTA (Toledo Area Transit Authority) bus line and the university bus. The University furnishes a parking garage and several lots to accommodate those who drive their own cars. The University of Toledo houses a large campus and includes campus housing for students. The college was founded in 1850 by the German Reformed Church. A committee was created to propose a college that would train ministers and teachers for the German immigrants settling in Ohio. The early college also included a high school. The members of that committee were the Reverends Hiram Shaull, Henry Williard, Jeremiah Good, and S.S. Rickly.
The main campus is located on the east side of Tiffin on College Hill. Heidelberg's tree-lined campus has large expanses of well-kept lawns and flowering shrubs. Classrooms, laboratories and other buildings are within easy walking distance in the time allotted between classes. The students can choose from among 29 majors supported by 19 academic departments. Students may also select one of 24 minors. Heidelberg offers at the undergraduate level the Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, and Bachelor of Music degrees. At the graduate level students may complete requirements for the Master of Arts in Education, Master of Arts in Counseling, and Master of Business Administration degrees.

Bowling Green State University
The University is fully accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and a member of the North Central Association. BGSU offers more than 200 undergraduate majors and programs in seven undergraduate colleges: Arts and Sciences, Business Administration, Education and Human Development, Health and Human Services, Musical Arts, Technology, and the regional BGSU Firelands in Huron, Ohio. Numerous programs within these colleges are accredited by their respective national accrediting agencies. BGSU is well known all across the country for its superiority in sports and academics. The College is easily accessible and is located just 25 miles south of Toledo, Ohio off Interstate Route 75.
Costs for 2003-2004:
A full-time first-year student living on campus in standard housing and with the minimum meal plan pays $13,300 in 2002-2003. Out-of-state students pay a surcharge of $6,960, for a total of $20,260. Students are encouraged to budget about $902 a year for books and supplies and an additional $1,628 for other expenses, such as entertainment, clothing, transportation, and laundry
