| Spaghetti Sauce with Wine
The key to great sauce is the amount of time that you cook it for.
The longer the better. Cook this sauce in a crock pot for best results.
If you don't have a crock pot, use a large pot and simmer on low heat
for at least 4-5 hours.
1 package of ground beef
2 tbs butter
1 onion finely chopped
1 green onion finely chopped
1 shallot finely chopped (optional)
1 celery stalk finely chopped
1 garlic clove finely chopped
1 can of tomato sauce
1 can of crushed tomatoes
1 can of tomato soup
1 8oz can of tomato paste
1 tomato finely chopped
1 green pepper finely chopped
1 carrot finely chopped
1 tbs basil (fresh if possible)
1 tbs oregano (fresh if possible)
1 bay leaf
1 tbs thyme
salt and pepper to taste
1 tbs vinegar
1 tbs sugar
1 cup of dry red wine
1/2 cup of brandy or sherry
Brown the ground beef in a large pot. Set your crock pot on high and add
the butter, all onions, celery and garlic. Mix and cover with lid. Add
beef to crock pot once browned.
Next add all other ingredients and mix well. If you are using a crock
pot, cook on high heat for 3-4 hours and then on low until you are ready
to serve. In you are cooking your sauce on the stove, cook on low heat
for 3-4 hours and serve.
