Turn on MTV. Who are you most likely to see? Britney Spears, Blink 182, *N Sync or some other famous band of course. What about those other bands? The ones you haven’t quite heard of. Sure, MTV, VH1 and other various music television stations might show you a few of them, but where are the rest?Well ladies and gentlemen, the answer is right in front of us. Every high school usually has one or two bands, or many of them, as Moravia High did years ago. Schools also have other musicians, such as someone with good vocal cords or a talent for writing. Of course every one of these acts won’t make it big in the music business, and some won’t even make it to a local stage. What about those who have true raw talent though? Those who only need a little publicity and an audience? What can we do to help? Support. If you like a certain ‘unknown’ band or musician, support them in every way you can. Just like you would with a ‘famous’ band, get others interested in their music and go to their shows. The music business is full of competition and hard to get into. Many big bands of today played small innocent gigs for years before they could even come out with a demo. To do my part on getting these ‘unknown’ bands noticed, I’ve decided to give you all a sneak peak of one band that deserves to be checked out. This pop/punk band goes by the name Y@nK. If you like bands like Blink 182, New Found Glory, Sum 41 and Good Charlotte, then you’ll love Y@nK.
